A selection of wines from Peckhams, Glasgow.
The wines were presented with a selection of Italian delicacies prepared and presented by Kirsteen Main - thanks Kirsteen!
The tasting was a bit chaotic, what a couple of corked samples and a new venue, so I missed out on a few wines.
Very pale, bright.
Warm buttery nose.
Crisp, quite oily grapefruit/citrus notes and a long warm citrus finish with mineral flavours coming through.
Lovely.
Aromatic, spicy Gewurztraminer-like nose.
Dry and fairly long with citrus acidity and a touch of young oak.
Lovely balance
Even plum/red.
Soft, ripe berries on the restrained nose.
Medium to full-bodied with charred oak flavours and some pepper. Hard tannins, juicy acidity and a green, tobacco finish.
Good but needs another 3 to 5 years.
Even garnet, browning.
Rich (baked) berry fruit and some perfume on the nose.
Full-bodied with sweet, pure blackcurrant and black cherry fruit. High acidity, soft tannins. OK finish with peppery white oak.
Mmmmm! A beast at 14.5% abv but very enjoyable.
Pale, bright, garnet.
Restrained with some currant fruit, slightly cheesy.
Light to medium bodied with very crisp acids, fresh cherry fruit and some old oak.
Slightly deeper than the Nino Negri, ruby/red.
Quite rich baked currant fruit, again a bit cheesy, with a touch of wood.
On the palate, full bodied with jammy, curranty fruit, lots of crisp fruit acid, perfumed with a violet/pepper/oak finish. Rounded texture
Bright, even, garnet red.
Dumb, but some violets, white pepper and cherries.
Warm, medium bodied with sweet and sour cherry and lemon fruit, high acidity, good ripe tannins and nicely judged oak.
Good length, but young - needs another 5 to 10 years.
Very good
