Wine tasting note: 1987 Blaauwklippen Cabernet Sauvignon

1987 Blaauwklippen Cabernet Sauvignon

1st Jun 1999 GBP7 South Africa Table Red

Quite viscous, deep brick red fading at rim. Developed, deep nose with gamey, meaty notes and berry fruits. Medium to full bodied with concentrated cassis fruit, lovely sour acids, negligible tannins and a long, savoury finish with a touch of smoke. Gorgeous - drinking now. Incredible value for this quality. Later - softer with a dirty, peppery, earthy character coming through - a wine for grownups!
