Wine tasting note: 1997 PJA Hermitage Chapelle

1997 PJA Hermitage Chapelle

15th Oct 1999 Rhone Table Red

[Tasted Blind]. Deep ruby, very slight paling. Subtle bacon smoke nose with some red berries, a touch of oak and hints of camphor - very well integrated. Full bodied with mouthfilling, sweet cassis and redcurrant fruit, peppery oak, lots of alcohol, firm dry tannins and excellent balance. Long. Superb now, but needs 5 or more years…. [Guess: High quality Californian Zinfandel. The shame of it - after tasting all those vintages at a previous vertical tasting.]
